Front plate mounting

Stick it on with a bit of double sided foam stuff or use a couple of self tappers?

Old one was stuck on but have just taken it off to replace with a new small one.

(10C difference on trackdays when old very large plate was removed!)

Stuck my new private plate on at the weekend with the double sided sticky foam stuff and it works a treat! Damn site easier than having to drill holes in the plate as well.

Just about to replace the sticky foam stuff with some decent velcro. Then at a track day just "rip off" 'plate and then stick on again afterwards. I left my 'plate on at Oulton this year and the temp' got up to 100 Will always remove the 'plate in future.

I'll take some puker stuff over to France you can pick it up there.
Use a long thin piece right along the back of the plate.

That's of course if it's hasn't fallen off by the time you get to me.

My self tapping screws are now on their third set of self stripping holes in the fibreglass.

Guess that answers the question, then!

ginger prince, if yours is the one that hangs underneath then 10/10 for originality but it still blocks some of the cooling area so Im gonna stick with the usual position.

Plus, I know I'll crack the plate off if I do that because I did the same on my CRX!

Velcro sounds like a good plan but then isn't it easy for others to swipe? Does it stay on at speed? (big big autobahn speed?)

BTW: I spent an hour last night cleaning the old sticky foam stuff off thinking I was going to screw the new plate on.

You can get extremely strong velcro - the 'plate will not come off unless you try hard. I can't see anyone wanting to steal the 'plate and if they did it would be just as easy with the foam sticky stuff.

At LM some people were stealing plates off of similar cars and then not worrying about speed traps for the rest of the weekend.

I guess it makes no difference how its stuck on when it comes to this though.

I have some heavy duty velcro that I used for the drivers mat. I'll have a look and see if its good enough.

I am now driving round with no front plate in Germany

car runs at a constant 80, up to 95 in traffic on the days whilst it has been 30°+ over here, no police man has said a thing, and I have seen plenty of them.

I would recommend keeping the plate in the boot though, you know just in case.. use the old just fell off routine..

I may not make any plans other than a route though and just look for accomodation on the way.

Italy is the one I want to know about for no plates.
I know its not legal in France.

I took mine off at Calais, when I brought the Griff back from the Growl..., I had 1 problem at the Swiss border (on entry) but that was it...

Most BiB over here just like admiring the car, and dont take much notice whether a little white strip with lettering is there or not... (The swiss have those tiny front plates anyway!).

In Italy, um they don't care, unless you (God forbid) have an accident...

I use nuts and bolts, not self tappers- much more secure.

True, but it blocks a lot less than the original. All I can see it really stops is a little flow to the air-scoop thing.

I've already caught mine a couple of times Luckily the metal I used for the brackets is quite soft so it bends, absorbing the impact. This preserves both the plate, and more importantly the fibreglass onto which it's mounted!

Even better, make them out of rubber, then when you go fast it will fold up out the way!
