Some decent cars around for the money I recon, I've always had a soft spot for them due to the Italian styling.

Like this example:

Any thoughts on it being a future classic???

Can't say much about them myself apart from I also love the styling probally one of the last great peugeot designs!

Would love one myself but it would have to be the v6 couldn't bring myself to driving the diesel or lower powered petrols despite the good looks

I feel you'll be waiting a long time for it to become a 'classic'.

Yes, that Italian styling, it's something else.

We're being a bit harsh on the Pug here, for what it's worth it's actually a pretty good car- what are you going to buy instead? A Ford cougar? vomit

Great cars, but any crash (no matter) how small, could write it off now - as the body panels are independent to the 406 saloon/estate - and only produced for the Coupé.

Always was a very good looking thing, that one looks pretty nice.

Interior was always terrible compared to the outside though, even if it was comfy.

Similar with any cheap car, it is £750 and anything, even a dent on the door of a Polo will see it written off regardless of parts prices and availability, if it gets written off you take your paying and go and find another.

I've had a 2ltr in Polaris Blue and a 3ltr SE in light blue(don't remember colour name). The 2ltr handled better than many equivalent coupes. Fuel ecconomy was ok and the JBL sound system was brilliant. The V6 had the advantage of leather interior, heated seats, climate control and brembo brakes but the fuel ecconomy was dreadful. My business partner had an M3 while I had the V6 coupe and I spent a lot more on petrol.

I actually think they will be a classic in the future, they were after all styled by the most prolific Ferrari stylist Pinnifarina.

A friend of mine used to have the V6 (he's moved onto a Monaro now) but it always felt much quicker than the published spec suggested, the 3.0 V6 seemed to put out a surprising amount of torque but then again my friend has a very heavy right foot!

Lovely looking car, but being French you have got to be worried about the longevity, and the interior is pretty plasticy

I think they're a great car, but I can't see them becoming a classic.

How can anything as beautifully-styled as that not become a classic?

Edit: in my opinion it's a classic already. I'll have mine in that nice lemon yellow...

I love how they tried to mimic completely the wrong kind of Ferrari.

Really? The standard 406s seemed to manage well enough, still lots about and quite a few ex-taxis for sale with spaceship mileage. Interior is plasticky-ish, but what are you comparing it to?

My mate has a 406 Coupe HDI, think its on 140k now, no major problems to report, he does look after it though. Lovely cars imo!

In some of the run out models they did a lovely Blue with Tan interior.... much like the fabled Ferrari TDF blue and tan combo..

Longevity? Compared to what? confused Or is this more of the baseless PH bandwagon French car bashing? rolleyes

The interiors, especially in leather are actually really nice (rear bucket seats). There isn't actually anything wrong with the dash, it's pretty smart. The main issue with it is that it is lifted (apart from some chrome, ally and bezels) straight from the normal 406. Boot is cavernous.

I've had two of them; a metallic red 2.0 litre and a Polaris blue 3.0 V6 SE (as well as a 406 estate). Great cars. I always thought the diseasel made good sense, it's not a bad engine at all and suffers none of the silly eco-gubbins that plague modern TDs.

Only thing that ever went wrong with either of them was a temp sensor failed making the engine think it was cold all the time which caused bad running. Easily fixed once the dealer had plugged it in.
