Me and my other half are planning a trip to Reno in 2016 - we plan to do San Francisco then drive up to Reno for the racing etc.

You will love it!!

I went in 2007 and it is unforgettable. Americans cop a lot of stick, but they know how to put on a show... You can get into the pits and talk to all the pilots and mechanics and get so close you can touch the aeroplanes. However, most of them are so clean you don't want to!

If you go multiple days, some of the display flying gets a bit samey and dull (the Thunderbirds - yawn), but there are great stands to visit and stalls to peruse.

Reno is also one of Bucket List.... Just never seem to have enough money left in the kitty after the annual summer hols/jaunt around Europe with the family.

My dad is a big aircraft fan also, he went to Oshkosh a few years back and absolutely loved it.

Now you've got me thinking!

Are you planning to hotel or rent an RV and park up for the week?

Went in 1979, saw the crash of the Red Baron Mustang, Steve Hinton the pilot survived, then got invited to see Something Else at its base in Oakland, where I just happened to be based , renting Cessna 150,s at £8 per hour, popped down to Mojave and met Burt & Dick Rutan, Got a ride in a Commanche chasing a restored Beech 18 over the desert, Just amazing , Oskosh in 83 was very good but Reno is still better.
