Electric car motor
Discussion
What sort of motor do electric cars use and roughly how much power do they develop and what do they weigh ?
I guess they will run at a fairly high voltage to reduce losses in the supply cable.
Sorry that is such a vague question but what do things like the Nissan leaf use and what is the peak power available .

Chevy Volt/ampera = ~100kW at about 350Vdc nominal (16kWh, 8 usable, 420Vdc pk to ~300vdc min)
Nissan leaf = 80kW at about 360Vdc nominal (400Vdc pk to ~280Vdc min)
Gwiz = 13kW at about 48Vdc nominal (lead acid)

Toyota Prius = 50kW at about 200Vdc nominal (but it uses DC-DC boost converter to increase voltage to traction motor, up to a max of about 500Vdc nom)
Renault Twizy = 13kW at about 300Vdc (~6Kwh)
