Men, anyone know how easy the handbrake is to adjust?

Got my MOT this week and the handbrake just duznay work at all!! Worked for a wee while after the 12K service but now after 16K is not working worth a toss.

Anyone know the procedure???

Cheers,

Jamster

Adjusters are on a bracket in front of and above the diff. Just follow the cables back from the hub to find them. Undo the plastic lock nut then adjust the free play by turning the main nut, clockwise IIRC. Cable is actually threaded on the outside, the nut should stay in contact with the bracket.

You mean that nice bit of aluminium below the gear knob is supposed to do something!!

If the thread in the nylon barrel adjusters has stripped (which it sounds like it has if the handbrake was OK then has gone again) you can fit a small jubilee clip around the handbrake cable as a sort of backstop to the nylon adjusters. It's fiddly to do as it involves reaching up above the diff. but my handbrake has been OK for the last 3 years since fitting this mod.
