What are the real world running costs for the V10 M6? Is the BMW Warranty essential?

I've just sold my Cayenne Turbo having got bored of 11mpg & 6k miles for a set of tyres.

Running costs are around the same as Porsche, mpg depends on driving, I've probably averaged 10 in past three and a half years. Tank is not big enough for the thirst though, that and rear seat space are my only criticism with a great car.

Thanks.

How about the warranty? Is it essential to have? I didn't bother with one for the Cayenne, however had one on the 996. I assume it requires a BMW check to see if it complies first - FBMWSH required for example?

Looking at this one.

16 mpg over 20,000, only bought one set of tyres in that time. My major cost was depreciation, you won't lose with the one highlighted though. If it checks out get it bought!

Tyres will last a lot longer than 6K but MPG may be similar to the Cayenne, unless you do motorway work (I am on 20 mpg when cruising at 150-160 kph).

The advert you link to seems (suspiciously) very cheap and the Hamann tat is not a selling point for me, but each to their own.

Looks like it sold on eBay for even less!
