Nice car.

Jensens in general seem to be under appreciated.

They were quite innovative in many ways and usually had a decent performance too.

I prefer the looks of the 541 to the CV-8 which is a bit overdone to my eyes. Great car though.

Those American V8's don't sound too bad IMHO and they had the advantage of being powerful, reliable and relatively cheap.

There's always been a certain brand snobbery when it comes to American-engined cars but in reality there weren't any equivalent British engines available.

Certainly Jensen, Bristol, AC etc. also thought so.

Even the ever popular and widely used "Rover" V8 was originally a Buick marine design.

I had a 4.6 RPI Engineering lump in my RV8 - great fun and plenty of poke, even with the trailer on the back

The car that had inspired Renzo Rivolta to start construction of the Iso Grifo. It was Giotto Bizzarrini who test drove the Gordon Keeble upon Rivoltas request. Bizzarrini just had developed the 250 GTO for Ferrari.

His comment after the Gordon Keeble test:
'I was impressed by the Corvette engine. And I was shocked, the engine was superior to the Ferrari engines. Offering the same power with more immediate throttle response... the Gordon hat better acceleration than the Ferraris of the era' (Winston Goodfellow, Iso Rivolta, The Men, The Machines, p.83)

I'd totally forgotten about the Daimler engine.

What an under-rated car, the biggest failing being Daimler's usual sedate styling. What a shame the engine wasn't used in something more sporty (like a Jensen).

But the CV8 was the real deal, performance-wise. Some contemporary road test figures show just how fast it was.

Daimler Majestic Major 0-60 11.3s
Aston Martin DB4 0-60 9.3s
Jensen CV8 0-60 6.7s
