Hi All,

I'm picking up my first M car next week and its giving me insomnia just thinking about it!!!!

It's a 2009 M3 with 15k on the clock. I currently have the 330d which has been the best car I've owned yet so this is just going to be off the scale, I know.

I've been looking at all the running costs tyres mpg servicing etc and that's all, well ouch, but that's what id expect tbh...

The mpg seems to differ so am wondering who has one, and what kinda average mpg do you get and how do you drive it too (mpg means bugger all without this info)

Thanks

Cam

Superb! smile

Great to see someone going from the 330d/335d into a M car.

I drove a mapped e92 320d (230bhp) the other day and although it was a nice car it felt completely dead and boring compared to my CS. So I think once you go M you wont care about the tyres, fuel, tax etc biggrin

Enjoy and it will be good to see some pics + comparison to the 330.

Give it a week then do the oem exhaust mod. £150. Well worth it. Makes a terrific sound which you'd probably enjoy more with the roof off. A great car you'll struggle to find fault with. Make sure you get any niggles looked at with it under AUC if its am AUC car. Mine was supplied in Sept from a main dealer, its been in for some fairly expensive warranty work this week which had I bought privately without warranty would of stung! (Power steering pump, Xenon ignitor and bulb-hideous cost!, interior light in rear-new unit, bonnet catch....)

18mpg. I don't spare the horses. I find Vredestein Sessanta tyres as good as the Michelin in the dry but better in the wet. Under £1000 a set online (plus fitting).

Happy to answer any specific questions. I've owned my white e92 from new in 2008. It's a keeper.

Sweet. Thanks all. Ill be doing a fair few motorway miles (250 per week) I'll try to drive sensibly on the way to work and play with it at weekends, note I said "try" smile

I got it from a dealer but not a BMW dealer, I should get a warranty with it as its a prestige car place but to be honest, with all the excitement I honestly forgot to ask them. Only put a £200 deposit on it but will check the warranty to tomorrow before final purchase, would rather lose £200 than end up with a car that's going to wipe me out with repairs!!!

I would imagine at that low milage I'm hoping that being a BMW it should be fairly cosha!!

Really am looking forward to this though.

Lovely car, well done wink

I've recently picked up an E93 335i and I'm very happy (having just come from a 997 C2S), the DCT gearbox is simply brilliant.

However, I've had a leak where the hood meets to screen on the passenger side which took the dealer a week to fix and by all accounts cost a fair few quid. Make sure you have a good look around the car and if possible throw a load of water over it as leaks aren't uncommon on the E93 (I assume you're getting the vert and not the coupe?)

You won't be disappointed with the car, you just need to tick all the boxes before you drive away.

Hope it all goes well and enjoy yes

White really suits the E9x M3. Fuggedaboud da fuel man. Just work those 414 ponies real hard every opportunity and get a Shell Card for all the V Power smile

Enjoy.

I've owned my Alpine White E92 M3 since February this year and can confirm that it is simply a stunning motor. The engine is absolutely epic. In second or third gear above 5500rpm the performance is incredible. I usually get bored of motors in less than two years but I cannot see this happening with this one.

As far as running costs go if you are already running a 330d then I don't see the costs being that much more. They will be more but not "break the bank" more.

Hopefully it'll be raining Saturday when I got to pick it up so ill check for leaks.

It is the convert, those pics are the car, I think I got a good deal from others I've seen on auto trader. £30,000 for the car and only done 15.6k. Was toying with the 335 d but you only live once so I took the plunge smile

Just out of curiosity does V Power make that much difference to mpg & power? Having driven a diesel for the last 3 years I've never used it, I did try the diesel version a few years back for a few months and didnt notice any difference, the the Shell I used stopped selling the diesel version......

I am really looking forward to exploring the RPM. Kinda forgot how it feels after the 330d. Although in terms of performance v economy then the only thing that beats that car is the 335, they simply nailed those cars!!!! Engineering magic!

Mine's had v power since day 1 except on one occasion when I put texaco crap in it. It went into limp mode within 10 minutes when i booted it and had to be reset by the dealer.

In which case make the first thing you do tomorrow is contact BMW and see if you can apply the Mondial warranty to it.

You can do it online here:- http://www.bmw-warranty.co.uk/Pages/CarDetails.asp...

Worth every penny if you ask me. If its full BMW history yet out of warranty even if there has been a break in cover outside of AUC warranty or manufacturers warranty you can retrospectively apply one. I looked at a few cars outside of AUC deals and was getting £130 a month quoted for full cover and breakdown service.

Put it this way my bill this week without the cover would if been £1400!

Thanks KE appreciate that, I tried to register online but got this :-

We are unable to process your policy. Please call the BMW Insured Warranty Services team on 0845 641 9790 to arrange cover.
Lines are open 9am - 6pm Monday to Friday.

I'll give them a shout tomorrow, no need for breakdown as I get that from the bank so I'll see what different packages they have and can offer. Appreciate the advise smile
