I'm toying with the idea of selling my M3 Convertible. The dealer I bought it from 2 years ago called me recently asking if I was ready to sell. He told me at the time of purchase that he would like first refusal when I decided to sell it. I see in the classifieds that values seem to be all over the place so I thought I'd ask the opinion of the enthusiasts before I call the dealer to see what he is willing to offer.

I've owned it for just over 2 years ago. It is very low mileage (42500) with full history, is in fantastic condition and is a rare BMW individual colour. Some mods but all reversible - just things like Storm Motorwerks gear knob, strut brace etc. and all standard parts are with the car, the only items I don't have are the original exhaust (now Milltek catback) and the original springs (has Eibach springs). It also has a hardtop with it. I have the original alloys and these would go back on the car for sale as I realise the 19's I have on it now aren't to most peoples taste.

So, with all this in mind, what sort of price do you think I should hope to get either from the trader I bought it from who is quite keen to buy it back, or if I should decide to sell privately?

£4k from the trader if he's feeling nice.

£7k in a private sale if you don't mind sitting on it until the summer. Or maybe the summer after, depending on whether you find a buyer.
