Wonder what PH will make of this!

They have a massive hill to climb. A 7 year warranty would inspire confidence because it would show MG has confidence in the product.
Sadly I don't think the car, however good, will always be an also-ran. People don't get the brand. They do get Ford, VX Mazda Nissan, Toyota etc and increasingly Kia.

Correct. Is the MG 3 times the car, though.
MG 6, surely? - It's not a comparable vehicle.Well it's in a completely different class, built on proven underpinnings, with very generous equipment. Perhaps decide after you've played with one.
Just a pity it looks the way it does.

I actually passed a petrol version the other day, never seen one before, I thought whats that ?
My next thought once I realised what it was, based on experience, was omg, look away.
It will need one hell of a warranty before I'd even look at one, and I imagine that would apply to a lot of the population.

Whoopy do, yet another fwd, diesel, piece of crap, with the added atraction of being built at Longbridge.
Can't wait !

Why slate British industry? It's (probably) the country you're from and live in, I don't know why some people like to put the boot in at every opportunity. Do you think the same thing happens in Germany or Japan? Can't wait !

The new MG6 isn't a car I'm interested in buying as I'm not sure its true of the original MG ethos, but it's giving a lot of people a job in an industry that's died away in this country so I hope they sell a lot of these mass market models, then maybe they can produce some more MG'y cars.

It's a 4-pot, FWD, not-german diesel. It'll be slated by many before they've even seen one, never mind driven one...
Well the never seeing one covers a large percentage of the population, they do look a nice car and with a good diesel at the right price I'd be tempted but I do work down the road from Longbridge.NISaxoVTR said:

I grew up just a few miles from the plant, I've owned a number of their models, I will take a lot of convincing to ever try another. The new MG6 isn't a car I'm interested in buying as I'm not sure its true of the original MG ethos, but it's giving a lot of people a job in an industry that's died away in this country so I hope they sell a lot of these mass market models, then maybe they can produce some more MG'y cars.

If it's as good as they say, then I'll expect to see a huge warranty, like the Koreans.

Because it isn't British, it's Chinese. The damned car isn't even supposed to sell well over here anyway, it's just here so the Chinese can market a European premium sporting brand in their own market. May I ask what you've owned, Nigel?
yes of course you may ..... having to think though lol.MGB's (I liked those even though I know there are much better foriegn cars).
A wedge shaped 216.
A montego.
A Rover 75.
Family have also had all sorts, from the Austin Devon, through Austin Somerset, Morris Oxford, Rover P6, Rover SD1, Maestro, and Metro, and even minis.
Of mine, I actually liked the Montego, although a bit noiser than its foriegn counterparts, I actually liked it very much.
I'm not just picking on Rover, I wouldn't buy a Ford ,Vauxhall, Peugeot, or Renault either, with my own money, I've had all as a user/chooser , but only because the budget I was given didn't stretch to the BMW models I wanted.
With my own money I've only bought BMW, Volvo, and Kia, I would consider Hyundai.
