2000 Range Rover 4.6
Discussion
Theres a nice example of a range rover vogue 4.6, 96,000 miles. 3 owners and lpg conversion @£4950.
Cant seem to find much on these; does anyone here run one?
Whats real world mpg likely to be?
How reliable are they at this mileage? I would assume fine if FSH.
Anything I should know?
Cheers

Sounds pricey to me,
Watch for suspension issues - when were the bags changed? Original compressor?
Wet drivers footwell - water pipes leak and its a dash out job to fix.
I'd expect roughly 16mpg mixed from the 4.6 on gas - we averaged slightly more but lots were long journeys.
Check the conversion is multi point, was fitted professionally, has the necessary certificate and that it fuels correctly on petrol and gas.
They're also sensitive to leads - we ended up changing them every other year to keep it running well on gas.

When all is well it was a nice place to be.
If you can get hold of a spanner and tinker you should be ok, cut the price in half though.
The engine has a nice note and it was very comfortable. He was regularly asking me to look at it, changing leads, plugs, looking at electrics etc. In the end the suspension played up so it went. Some sort of pump under the bonnet had an weird fault at times so he waved goodbye.

Well my other idea is a forester and maybe lpg that but from pics I cant convince OH! If you can get hold of a spanner and tinker you should be ok, cut the price in half though.

The forester gets some good reviews. 5k should get something tidy.

Outlander may be worth a look? Bit more of a soft roader than the RR but Jap reliability and sensible prices about.

I believe that the 4.6 engine is the one to avoid as it suffers from problems with the liners moving.
2000 onwards this should be sorted....But no. I'd only buy a Range Rover in this shape now if I REALLY wanted it and it was a really good one. The potential costs are extroardinary
