Dodge Viper return in 2013?????

I posted this on Beer Mountain as well, so it's interesting to see other people's thoughts.

I just noticed something interesting on the ACO ticketing webpage. They mention the return of the Dodge Viper for 2013, I'm not sure even Dodge has announced this. I know they are developing the SRT Viper for competition, but had only mentioned ALMS in the articles I had read.

Despite being American & powered by a truck engine, I'm excited if it's true

Would be great having the viper back. I'm no American car fan, based on they are normally rubbish... But I do have a soft spot for the corvettes at the 24hrs.

The viper would look great. They did have one in the village area on show, so it could have been decided they will do LM'13.

Its not a fking Truck engine

The original engines were designed by Lamborghini who at the time were owned by the Chrysler corporation

Well, Lambo do make tractors as well & pretty much every article I ever read, mentioned it was based on a truck engine.
Though, if I'm wrong, I'm wrong.

OK, here's where the truck bit came in. When the concept car was first revealed to the press, everyone said build it. Chrysler / Dodge looked around to see what engines they had. They found a V10 Truck engine which had a cast iron block. They took this engine to Lamborghini who looked at it then completely re-designed it into an all aluminium engine. So the car never ever had a Truck engine in it, but people like Clarkson like to use the words referring back to how the car was conceived.

The GTSR Engines came about when Chrysler were developing these engines for F1, They were in Talks with Mclaren and a Gentleman's agreement was done, then Mclaren decided to pull out and left Chrysler/Dodge with a load of engines. They decided to stick these engines in the GTSR Cars and hence the racing program took off. Mclaren ended up doing a deal with Mercedes.

Tthought the Viper block was formed from 2 chopped up Dodge pickup V8s Mark (6 from one, 4 from the other etc)? Definitely not trucks though. Won't be Dodge on track though; SRT aren't Dodges anymore.
