Bit of a strange electrical problem with the TVR, seems to have a bad connection somewhere.

Its like a power surge, so the car kangaroos a bit even in the higher revs.

When driving and looking at the rev gauge seems to jump 2-300 rpm and the car lurches with it.

Any idea what this might be or how to find it?

Does it do it hot or cold or both?

Try putting the old HT leads back on and see if that makes a difference.

Check the dizzy cap for cracks or tracking. Rotor arm the same (there was a batch of bad ones around a while ago that cracked).

Try putting the leads direct on to the plugs. The extenders might not be doing what they should.

Will try both on saturday, seems only to have been a problem since changing the dizzie. Vacum advance had completely failed on the old one.

Check that the distibutor pinch bolt is done up tightly as well and that the vac advance is moving freely.

Check that the leads are not arcing (best done with car running in a dim or dark area with bonnet up)

Checked the leads, all seems fine there (was dark).

Will have to check the vac advance on a different day, but did work when it was in peters car (phazed), as he replaced the vac advance not long ago

Think I have potentially found the problem, one of the ht leads was sitting ontop of the cable to the coolant temp sensor and has melted the outer casing of this wire.

So i now need to find a replacement multiplug with some wire, anyone know where I can get one?

Well its been a weeek of basically not using the car. I have soldered up the cable to the coolant temp sensor as a temporary fix/bodge and has made no difference.

Next port of call is to get it code read i guess, so frustrating
