Anyone been on a learn to cook weekend?
Discussion
Mrs BigE is quite keen to go on one of these culinary weekends so I was going to book one up for her Christmas present.
I was thinking Italy would be nice in the Spring, meaning I could sit in the sun drinking wine while she slaves away in the kitchen for the day!
I've Googled cooking holidays and there are a lot that come up so any recommendations would be welcome. Doesn't have to be Italy if someone can recommend a nice one elsewhere.
Thanks for any advice.

Rick Stein does a two day course at the seafood school.

I've been to the one day classic course which was very hands on rather than lots of demo's, and the best thing is eating the food you prepared and washing it down with lot's of wine at lunch time which makes the afternoon session interesting
.
I also go to meet Rick which was great as he is one of my food hero's!

Thanks, both of those look really good.
She would definitely like the Rick Stein one as we eat quite a bit of seafood and have a great fishmongers near home. Melman, can you recommend any of the hotels?
St Petroc's is very nice however if you book a residential course I think you get a choice (They are all very nice BTW)She would definitely like the Rick Stein one as we eat quite a bit of seafood and have a great fishmongers near home. Melman, can you recommend any of the hotels?

When I went everyone on the course was like-minded and had a wide and varied amount of skill in the kitchen, so no need to be daunted or under whelmed!
Also the view from the Dining table is fab, if you watch Rick on TV he sometimes cooks in the school.

That looks great, I was only really thinking of Italy/Spain but this could be a really nice couple of days away.http://www.rickstein.com/St-Petroc%E2%80%99s-Hotel...

That looks really nice, thanks. There seem to be lots of these holidays available and I have no idea which ones are good and which ones aren't!Some of these seem pretty expensive but I'm seeing the improvement in Mrs BigE's cooking as an investment in my future happiness (and probably expanding waistline)!
