Hi

I have one broken door speaker on my '98 Chim and am having trouble getting a replacement. I tried Carl Baker but he only has a modified version at £150 a set. Does anyone have one that is surplus to requirements?

Not sure the Griff ones are the same. Mine are Pioneer, six and a half inch or 160 mm. They fit so snuggly in the door card that if they are just a bit bigger, they won't go in as I have found out to my cost. Would be interested in purchasing one/both if they will fit.

I have the original pioneers in mine (also a '98 chim) but am thinking of getting rid of them for something else.

Would be happy to sell them to you.

PM me if interested.

Thanks fellas, I am happy to buy from either one of you at the right price. I have purchased a new set but they are the wrong size and according to the supplier, upgrades are few and very far between. Good luck in your search. Let me know how much you want for them.

Thanks again.

Ray

If anyone has a set of Chim speakers that they could accurately measure the diameter of could you let us know here?

The company I work for has merged with a high-end speaker manufacturer and I'd like to see if anything they do would fit but I haven't got round to pulling out my own speakers to measure them... biggrin

Hi 5.0ltr, Sorry, I have just received notification about these replies and I haven't received e-mail from you. I have checked spam incase it was in there but no. I never knowingly ignore correspondence so please accept my appologies.

I believe/hope that this is sorted with swallet although I expect to hear from him in the next day or so. Might be an idea to see if you have them incase it all goes t*tts up. While you're about it, look to see if you have a spare radiator as mine developed a leak over the weekend.spin

Bassfiend: Too cold to pop one out at the moment but if you don't get a reply from Swallet I'll check the size when they arrive and let you know. From memory they are 160mm or 6.5 inches but as I have found to my cost, any bigger than original and they won't go in, so worth being accurate.

Cheers, Ray

Hi Bob

One of the Mid Essex Amigos did your full day session and said it was second best only to the thrill of driving his Tuscan. I think it made him a better all round driver, he was impressed.bow

They are 6" speakers in mine, 6.5" ones are too big in my experience. Also not many people seem to make 6" ones anymore.
JL audio do some if you cannot get any originals. http://www.jlaudio.co.uk/tr600-cxi-car-audio-tr-co...

As I remember the originals are something like 62 mm in depth, quite shallow so as not to interfere with the window going up and down.

get the JL´s. Replaced mine too. Only 6" Will fit in. 6.5 no chance in standard doorboard. If you widen it no problem. Speaker itself is easy but fitting the grill is quite a bit of a hazzle.
Right side no problem but as usual left side differs in size laugh

Sound is ok but when speaking about sound exhaust is louder than radio .....

Hi Bob 5.0ltr,
Simon has been involved in a collision so his speakers are not available anymore. Did you have any luck finding yours?

I put some 13cm ones in mine. The holes in the door were small enough to accommodate them and they look fine.
