The car's got a bit of a weird problem - when I put the blowers on and turn the heat up to full there is a squealing noise. It seems to be coming from inside the cabin rather than under the bonnet.

I've also noticed that it only comes on when you turn only the upper blowers on - i.e. on the setting the middle know below is on (ignore the temp/fan speed):

Any ideas what's causing it and what i need to clean/adjust/replace?

A leaf or something may have got in there, also try changing the cabin filter.

Bearing going in fan that you can only hear when the upper blowers are open?

smartphone, do you mean the pollen filter? The car in question (MX-5, obvs.) doesn't have one. I cleaned the air filter (it's gone black in patches on the side that faces down) which had some stuff stuck in it.

So far so good but I only gave it a short blast - will try a more extended test later/tomorrow.

Jon, how would I go about checking the fan bearings? Is it something that's mechanically easy or does it require a lot of work to access it?
