Posting on behalf of my caveman friend who's an internetphobe! We are based in Pork Pie Land (Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire)

He has a well maintained Mondeo 2.2 TDCI which has all the toys and we attended Trax this year (in my Impreza). He got chatting to some lads from various owners clubs about remapping and styling his Mondy a bit better so now he's got the bug. He's fitted 18" ST Wheels and a de-cat exhaust system so now he's ready for a remap.

Thing is, there seems to be so many options or places who say "we'll remap anything for £200", which we know to avoid. He's not likely to be into going for a BlueFin system and would rather pay for a taylored map.

The only place I can find good feedback about are RTech in Hinkley, but their site tends to suggest they prefer to map German stuff like VAG/BMW. So my questions are, can anyone recommend a midlands based mapper (must be dyno, not a road map), is there anything else he should consider doing before mapping and what are conservative estimates likely to be on a 2.2 TDCI 155?

Thanks, Stu

2.2 has stroked crank and longer rods than 2.0L. As a result the gudgeon pin to c own height is shorter and the pistons aren't as robust as 2.0L items. Be careful with calibrations that cause very high cyclinder pressures. Ricardo found out very quickly that 155 is a good 'safe' limit. As the engine is out of warranty how feisty/conservative is your mate feeling? Is it his everyday car?

Try sabre in Bristol they map both on the dyno then perfect on the road, they are very well regarded by all that have used them & if they think mapping it would be unsafe they will tell you

Conservative remaps are in the region of 180bhp smile
There aren't that many companies that are profoundly known by remapping the Mondeo.

Bristol? Not really Midlands based chap but thanks.

I've heard all the scare stories about remaps and have no interest in what "could" go wrong, hence why I didnt title my post "what will go wrong when my mate remaps his Mondeo". I'm sure theres plenty of people out there who are more than happy with a remapped Mondeo, all I'm after is some recommendations for places that take care of the car and are'nt interested in "taking it to the max!"
