Taking these two examples below it would appear the R34 is worth more than the new GTR now. So if you had £42k what would you have?

I love them both but the R34 (especially that rare model) is a future classic and will probably go up in value, there are many on ebay below that value also, won’t be long before they’ll be under £30k (not that I could afford one then either unless the 130m comes up tomorrow)

That's a very rare R34 though and quite special.
R34s are great but the R35 is a different animal completely and in all honesty a better car. There's loads of them and so far no special editions like the NUR2 so , apples and pears.

The R34 in question was a rare limited edition and as with other limited editions and such will command a premium, just as the R35 v-spec does.

R35's are not expected to drop below £30k. Values are holding pretty well at the moment. They always dip around winter time as no one wants to buy and will rise again next spring.

Values of the early R35s seem to be holding as new models are now nudging £80k.

Fond memories of spending hours doing the endurance series on Gran Turismo in one of those. That R34 looks fantastic! I can definitely see the appeal, although my money would still probably go on the faster, more refined, more reliable GTR.

Special editions aside (A Z Tune or something like that will always be worth a bomb), the R34 in general is not R35 money. I remember seeing a minter in the "Just looking" column at the back of an Evo mag last year or the year before, and it was "only" £20,000 odd, which is £15,000 less than the earliest, leggiest import R35s.

That said, I'd take an older R33, 32 or 34 (in that order) before I had an R36, if money was no object.

There are a couple of R34’s on Autotrader for £28k and the cheapest GTR is £34k. The prices of the GTR may not drop below £30k for a while but there are far more GTR’s out there than R33 / R34 Skylines (based on the results of searches) I was just surprised that the gap between the 2 cars had shrunk so much.

I really don’t know which I would have; both are on my “to own at some point” list, they are obviously very different cars though.
