Noob help please - registering a body swap
Discussion
Y'all know those MR2 convertibles that turn in to "Italian thoroughbreds" (cos you're nto allowed to call them F e r r a r i!)... or those MX5 250GTO type things where basically you leave the engine/chassis etc well alone but swap out all the body panels so there's no need for IVA....?
Clearly it'll need a name change on V5 cos when MrPlod's ANPR says MR2 and it's clearly a "thoroughbred". Can you just make one up? ALso it'll go form a 2 door convertible to a hard top/coupe. DO they mind this? And colour will change of course...
Is it really as simple as filling in the blue section on the V5, posting it away and that's dandy?
Never done this before so just looking for Noob answers please

No, it's a bit more than that.
As far as I can understand you need to complete a "Built Up Vehicle Inspection Report V627/1" and then take the vehicle for an inspection at your local DVLA office. This is not an IVA test , just an inspection/check of the chassis and engine numbers, etc.
But just a change of engine and or colour can be done on the V5.
