Spitfire. Just bought this book for a fiver.

Charity shop, it jumped out at me whilst looking for a book about the history of sewage in Victorian England.



Just turned a few pages and it's already fascinating.

There are more books on the history of the Spitfire than on any other aircraft.

Not read that one but I know that Shacklady (I wonder what his ancestors did to get that name ) is a respected aircraft historian.

it was the citation from Jeffrey Quill on the front that sparked my interest. He died a few years before the book was originally published so must have read the original transcript. It also seems that it contains the full records of every spitfire produced and unit sent to. Looks like hard reading but fascinating.
