What a transformation!!!
Discussion
I am over the moon.
I can't stop smiling
and sneaking a regular CCTV glance while I am working!!
I have just fitted my new 17" wheels and new hood. It makes a huge difference to the looks. I've now got a real head turner!!! All the hard work is now starting to show.
I just need a suspension upgrade now as the 225 50 17s catch the arches during heavy cornering. I know it has altered the gearing slightly but this can only help as the standard gearing always seemed a bit short.
Roll on the sunshine so I can get out and drive!!
I now have a set of S1 wheels with new Dunlop Sport SP1s which may be for sale. I need to fund the suspension tweaks somehow.
The hood from Carhood Warehouse was promptly delivered (but no instructions!!) and was relatively easy to fit.
The wheels came from Rochford Tyres and were a great eBay deal.

hmm, found the gearing a bit short?
do you mean you can more or less max it out on revs withouth running out of steam?
i have the same problem in my 2.9 need higher gearing, the limiter comes too soon in 5th, someone suggested fitting over-drive from a triumph stag but i'm not sure doing that keeps within PH rules as the stag is f-in old! (plus the gearbox is a tad different!!) thought about bigger wheels + low profile tyres, should be able to fit 18's with 45 profile rubber without a problem, as the overall diameter is the same as the 15's with 65 rubber.
well.........
thats how i see things at the mo....

Don't worry about the age thing. Austin Princess 4 pot calipers are old, but I would love them on my V8S.

Overdrive unit from an old Triumph
. Interesting thought. I can't believe that it would fit on the Ford gearbox.
18" wheels sounds better although with 45 profile, I guess that width would need to be limited to 215 to reduce the concern for tyres catching arches. Alternatively a greater offset could be used. Mine are ET20 and would have missed the arches with another 5mm.Gassing Station | S Series | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
