is there a lightweight alternative wheel to 19" CSL wheels..

sold mine last year doh, putting on a Z4M Coupe.

Ideally black, but the car was better with lighter wheels. Can anyone suggest a wheel (same weight).

Apec 8rc or Ec-7 cheaper and lighter and well known in the bmw circles....

AC Schnitzer 19" Type VIII forged will fit. 8.5J front and 9.5J rear. Probably similar weight.

There's. thread running on M3cutters now; a guy bought some CSL reps and they weigh the same as Genuine CSLs. There's a trader on there does them in Hyper Sliver, Hyper Black and Gunmetal. I've just bought some for mine and they look stunning on.

If they're a set of forged wheels, then they're extremely cheap. If they're a set of cast wheels at the same weight as the forged OEMs, then they'll be extremely weak.

Any idea which it is?

OEM CSL aren't forged I don't think. OEM M3 wheels are I believe, acording to various threads on M3cutters.

Spoken to the APEC guys in America and they definitely know there stuff.
They don't do a 19" wheel at the mo.
There 18" are obviously good wheels, not that it's all about looks, but the csl wheels look so much better IMO

Emailed you back mate. Go have a look on the cutters link I sent you, Chris is a top bloke. He does the VMR's as well, it was a toss up between them and the CSL reps for me.

Thanks for that, just found BBS manufacturing on YouTube. Quite interesting, the spoke/hub is Low Pressure Cast and the rim is Flow Formed like a pot on a potters wheel.

no probs, the CSL really is a nice factory rim, its lighter than the stock 18" and is nearly as strong as a fully forged wheel due to the flow forming castign technique.... bmw needed them strong as they were always going to be used in conjunction with a road legal slick, which obviously have considerable stresses involved during hard / track driving..... They are a great rim for the z4m, shame their not 18s BUT..... imo they are a great compromise.
