M3 E92 Exhaust mod
Discussion
I've seen mentions on here of and OEM mod to the exhaust.....anyone have any info on this? What's involved...price etc
I love the sound of my M3 from outside when it's revving, but I always feel as though I'm a bit too insulated from the sound inside the car.
I'm not so bothered, that I would look to spend the thick end of 2k on an Eisenmann or something similar, but if there was a cheaper OEM mod that wouldn't affect the warranty etc, and just gave it a wee bit more of an edge and a few extra db's then I'd be happy.

Yep, it's simple too - just need an exhaust shop to remove the steel wool (I think it's called) from inside the silencer, works a treat and should have left the factory sounding that way. I'll find a thread that has pictures of exactly what you need to do.

The backbox is cut open and you have a couple of choices. Inside, you will see two large perferated pipes and two small ones that have what looks like a bandage over them. You either cut out the large pipes and weld in a a normal piece of steel (or sleeve them), repack the exhaust with the wool and weld it shut (sounds lovely) or you can do all four pipes, repack and weld (bloody load).
Should cost less then 200 quidand makes a big difference.
Well worth it. But only do two pipes as all four makes it sound like a race car!
