Underhand Audi dealer/s
Discussion
Just picked up my Q7 from 1st big service (30k miles) since I purchased it. I supplied dealer with 8 litres of Castrol Edge (Costco £60 all in). I was in a rush so just paid and got on the road. Later today I just happened to check invoice and came across a charge for 1 litre of Castrol edge, £16.50 + VAT. I rang the dealer to be informed that this was supplied as a matter of course and was part of the 'service pack'. As soon as I started to complain and mentioned it was underhand etc the chap was apologetic and offered an immediate refund upon return of the oil. Thats fine, apart from the 40 mile round trip to the dealer now for the refund.
Has anyone else had this sneaky oil sale placed on them? Is this the new 'screenwash' money maker?

You do sometimes wonder whether it's intentional or a mistake. I once got charged for both standard oil and long-life oil when I used to have my TT serviced by main dealers, they clearly hadn't put both in and refunded the difference quite quickly.
They should be able to do a cardholder-not-present refund on your card without you having to make the return trip, or post you a cheque or do direct bank payment. They might not want to, but it was their mistake and are "down" in the goodwill stakes at the moment. I won't hold my breath for you though.

They are more than willing to refund even cardholder not present, just not without the oil being returned even though I said this is their fault and they should refund 1st and I will at some stage drop the oil in to them. They have all my details, I'm not about to leave the country over it and I also mentioned that as a gesture of goodwill for their 'mistake' they should do it.
I have also just checked the discs and pads, as I had an advisory from them that they were severely worn particularly on the front, with heavy lipping on the discs. Lets just say after 30 years on the road (including 8 years racing) my idea of severely worn pads and badly lipped discs doesnt seem to correspond with theirs, but I guess they think if they can covertly flog me oil, £700 worth of brakes shouldnt be a problem........

The thing is this "service pack" idea would have no doubt come from some ex graduate bod at Audi UK HQ who has never actually worked in a dealership and seen it from the sharp end, apart from maybe a three month molly coddled placement fully salaried by Audi UK.
Bingo. And dealers don't care because there is profit in it - easy win.
