Hello, I live in Spain, and here all E63 M6 are with a SMG III. I am considering the purchase of an M6, since I believe there are very few cars in the market that are somewhat sportscars / GTs, with the ability to seat four people and non-aspirated. However, I like manual transmissions.

I have heard that in the US the M6 could be bought with a MT. I also have seen some internet pages from the UK marketing a MT for the M6. I have sent an email to them, but I have got no response so far.

Do you know if it is possible and feasible (in cost terms) to swap an SMG III for a MT? I imagine one would need to purchase the whole transmission, change the ECU, add the left pedal and change the whole interior for the stick (and I am sure other things, too).

Has anybody done that? Is it possible to estimate the overall cost?

Thanks.

I'm not sure anyone has done this yet. All the reports I've read have the 6MT on the M5/M6 as being a really poor quality gearbox anyway.

To me the SMG is a nice half way house between auto and manual, don't discount it if you've not already tried it (I've not checked your profile yet, you probably have a load of M5 and M6s now)

I drove the manual M5 - the SMG is way ahead - manual doesn't suit the engine at all. But horses for courses.
