Or maybe the windscreen is an optional extra and the standard car just comes with a sheet of steel there?

I wouldn't put that past BMW at all. silly

Did make me smile as well......just called 'glass' on most cars.

Seriously though, it says, xenons and auto lights/wipers

Did you notice what mpg figure they achieved on the touring route. I have always found that figure from their tests gives a pretty accurate idea of what can be achieved on a gentle daily commute and is therefore in many ways more relevant than the overall test figure.

1545Kg? I hope that's with 2 passengers and a full tank. Most cars of that size are around 1350Kg.

Cracking standing start performance figures though, and fuel economy pretty good too.

Xenons are standard here in UK, the visibility pack is the auto lights and wipers smile

Yes, pretty much (ss km 24.7 @ 137 ) the same standing start figures as the manual 1M ( ss km 23.9 @ 138.4mph )
30-70 was exactly 4.0 seconds as well - the same as 1M.

1M bit faster on the handling circuit times.

Wonder how much weight the extra kit added ( if any ) - it was 20kg heavier than the 1M.
Be interesting to see a base-model manual tested with out a staggered setup and a Drexler ( or whatever becomes available )

Ah ok, it just said 'uprated' lights next to the option ( in addition to auto lights/wipers ). Are they uprated xenons then?

Came 6th in the Evo coty test - they really liked it and raved about many aspects of it.

Are there any plans to put this package in the coupe? I really like the idea (and economy) of this car but I can't get over the hatchback's looks.

They move slightly in the direction of steering travel to aid vision, a bit better than sticking a poxy fog light on a la VW...

There isn't a coupe for them to package it into yet, is there?

ahh yes and it works well, that one fog light thing does look a bit odd and the car I drove with it didnt seem to help light up the road at all.

Do we know when a coupe is likely to arrive? I missed out on a 1M due to timing issues - and this looks like it could be a worthy alternative - but I just couldn't live with those looks - hideous doesn't even start to describe it.

I think the Americans on Bimmerpost are hoping for the 2 series in a year or two.

I think there is an M235i coming when they rebody the coupe. They have had a habit though of not offering the same engines in the hatch and coupe in the past fro whatever reason

Dont think you would say that if you saw one in the flesh.
