Hello Loose,

i bought my XJrV8 from SSS three and a half years ago, nice chap and tends to pick out the better ones on the market.
Dangerously though, he takes credit cards, so temptation to buy and drive away was too much for me!
i have seen some of his cars supplied to the Jag monthly's for features so is obviously held in high esteem in these circles.
Whats the deal on the one your viewing, i saw he had an XJr6 Manual, i was tempted on that but for the 222,000 smiles on the clock!

Hi hayling
cheers for the heads up, i have found a few references to jaguar monthly now and seems like he knows his jaguars,
I have got my eye on the black xjr-6 manual that he has in stock with 120k on the clock
sounds like a tidy car with history, it will be my first jag in a few years the last being an
xj40 gold, and two series 3 before that, though i did have a 6.0 x300 on loan for a few months
going back a few years, think i will give him a bell and try to get over there for the weekend
smile

if you want ultimate fun, then the manual xjr6 is hard to beat. i wouldn't use it for a city commute though!
defo go see them/ test drive, and let us know how you get on.

luckily my commute is only a mile or so,
have fancied an xjr for some time and really fancy a look at this one,
just got a couple of quotes off confused and the cheapest comp policy has come in at £410 which i thought was not to bad, 37 with ncb protected
i do have a multicar policy with aviva that is due in feb so may well be even cheaper,
the excitement is building wobble will have to reign myself in a bit before i get to carried away yikes

£410 does not sound far off the mark. i did a quote with lancaster a few years ago for an auto 300R, and i think it was £380, limited mileage to 3000 (or was it 6000- cant quite remember).

1 mile to work though? do you really need to drive, thats a 15 minute walk? the car will not even be warmed up by then!

i do ride to work on the mountain bike but use the car if the weather is bad,
it's actually more like 3 miles by car and just over a mile by cycling through the woods smile

Limited mileage, 2nd car should be able to half that premium. Have you tried the usual classic insurers, Flux, Footman etc?

if your in the area over the weekend your more than welcome to do a comparison test, and its another excuse to post a piccy!!!

thats a nice collection you have there hayling cloud9
dont think i have ever seen a proper red 1 im guessing its manual, the v8 looks slightly lowerd and the twr in black that must be a rare car, was it at wings and wheels parked next to a red monaro at all this year ?
if it was i had a chat to your m8 with the monaro about it,
thank you for your kind offer i will bear it in mind smile
i have an aviva multicar policy so should be able to bring that quote down a bit if i drop the mileage
right down so will go from there later on, smile

Hello Mark,

it was indeed me at W&W, good day out that. Michal had the Monaro on the drag, just after a new diff and engine fettle! "take it easy on this as its all new" yeah right, sideways and smokin up the runway!

the 6pot is a lovely car, though unfortunately not a manual. unusual colour and a great ride. Was getting good reception on the Cote D'Azur in the summer.
V8r has been lowered, still like a barge through the corners though. Pulley upgrade aswell, thought it was lacking in punch!!

The TWR is getting rarer and i only bought that as a possible investment, who knows which way it will go. apparently only 57 left now!!

be interested in how you get on with your potential aquisition and if you do get it i would love to see/drive it!

Hey, that red one, have you got a private plate on it?

I had a 1998 in that colour and thought it virtually unique as I never saw or found another in pheonix red.

I'm obviously wondering if that's my old one. smile

Check my profile pick, I believe it's still got a picture of it.

Hi Darren
Yes it was a good day out but got off to
A bad start as those pesky plastic roads managed to rip off my cavalier exhaust and wrecked my fuel tank rolleyes but it all got sorted in the end, and the taxi home meant that I could have a beer at the pub before leaving, funny you should post up that piccy I nearly fell over when I looked at it because that is me chatting to your m8 lol what is the chances of that happening !! I will let you no how I get on if I go up Saturday and you are welcome to have a blast in her if I take the plunge thumbup

I sold it about 5 years ago to a guy who wanted to use it to showcase some performance mods his company was developing / provding. He wanted the red becuase it was so unique and would help the car stand out for demoing. I can't remember what the company name was as it would be interesting to see what they ended up doing with it.

The only other pheonix red I ever found was an advert for one in a garage in Singapore. smile

Thank you,

im contemplating an X350R now just to complete, theyre good value at the moment at around 6-8K. Not sure on the styling though, look a bit 'portly'.

Driving wise its whatever mood takes me, the V8 is a monster, balls out aggro! the 6pot is a lovely all rounder which, although not as fast, can still pick her skirt up and run. Great handling too.

the XJ40 is just Pimp!!!! cruisin at a ton, total waftability!!
