..left feild post, but.can anybody think of another car that doesn't have a bonet badge, or is the mk1 5 unique?

It does. But most people pull them off because they look better without.

...I'm sure early uk G & H reg didnt , they just had the Mazda decal on one side of the bumoer? I am prepared to be wrong on this though!

Hard to tell with a 20+ year old car - Are ANY still 100% standard after all these years?
Surely somewhere on the net are original press release pics etc

I took the badge off mine so that I could attach a stick-on number plate (it's still lying around somewhere though). I bet loads of other people have done the same.

I'd an '89 Jap import and it had a bonnet badge?

It was tatty so i replaced it with a new one for a mk2.

....chaps, I stand corrected, off to mx-5 parts to get a replacement badge!(there £10 each!)

IMO the Mk2 M badge looks better than the Mk1 toilet seat badge.
