Good morning friends known and those yet to meet

I have been in hibernation for the last couple of years now whilst the Mighty Griff has been made Mighty again after yet another engine failure.

I couldn't bring myself to read all about you lucky folks thrashing about in your P&J's so buried my head in the sand and spent my spare time changing nappies instead

I now have a fine motor, just 1.5 bhp short of 300 ( Cheers Rob ) some nicely re-furbed retro style Gotti's ( Cheers Taff ) and a newly refurbed carbon dash ( Cheers to Me )

I had to share in the joy of a rather spirited drive to work this morning, which has certainly helped me along the way to fully regaining the "Sprirt of Griff". Best start hunting for some new tyres ;o)

Glad to be back !

Fantastic news. Good to see you back in the Griff!

Did you ever get to the bottom of the piston failure in the end?

Did you ever discover the root cause of your past 'mishaps', or just change block, crank... and consign them to history?

Thanks Chaps, sure is good to be out and about

Previous engine issues put down to poor mapping running it too lean on full demand ( which was most of the time obviously )

1st blown motor issue stupidly only dealt with effects of damage not cause ( how I rue that decision )

2nd blown motor issue optimistically assumed it was OK to re-use some of the original parts that looked serviceable ( how I rue that decision also )

Had enough "learn by experience" for a few years so :

Now tuned by Mark Adams to stop the inadvertant economy mode

Rob V8D rebuilt the motor ( again ) with all new forged pistons, block / crank / rods / top hat liners with 24 mth warantee redface)

AFR gauge fitted to keep an eye on proceedings ( cheers to Clive for your boss welding, rolly smokin and cake eating prowess )

Fuel account topped up to keep up with impending demand ( cheers Visa )

If it goes again you may never hear from me again ( wishful thinking by some no doubt )

Look forward to meeting up again at a thrash soon

Moose

Is that how you divert his mind from cross-dressing & trying to 'sneak up' behind you? scratchchinrofl Does he still try on the "quick give me your kacks to quench the hot weld" line?

Out of interest is it still your original block Andy, small / large journal rebuilt or one of Robs big bore stroked 4.6 specials? I'd suspect the later due to the warranty Rob's offered wink

Love your colour combo/dash and how low the roof folds...

Bet it was a good feeling getting back in the saddle (so to speak) - I'm on my second V8D motor this year - Rob's a genius - see you at the Growl 2013.

Regards, Paul.

That's what I think wink

I loved the idea of the silver rims I think it gives a real matching retro look to the car that suits it's classic lines. Personally I am not convinced that the bigger rims with skinny tyres suit the look of the body ( great on a Sag though ) but that's just my personal opinion of course ( he says with a new Carbon dash - the feckin hypocrite )

Took a while to get the original rims but got there in the end. They were sprayed two years ago and were just about to get put on the car when .... BANG ! So I've saved them til now to grace the car with their precence
