Does Valvoline VR1 Racing 20w50 have the necessary zinc content that the RV8 flat tappet engines require?

I think that is does. I dont know what these engines require but I have used it on my last two V8's and the guy who rebuilt the first one recommends it.

Just to put a spinner on this one - i find 20w too thick for the RV8 - certainly in my 500.

You could hear the circulation from the oil pump taking forever when cold especially in Winter. Similarly i found 5W too thin.

I tend to use 10W50 which seems to be the optimum cold start - only MO though

Yes the cam & tappets are audibly noisey ie dry of oil for too long IMO while the thicker oil tries to circulate - not ideal especially when stood for any period - i find 10W much more fluid in such circumstances - as i said purely my own opinion

Possible obvious question, but how much oil does an RV8 hold? I assume more than 5L?

TVR's own handbook for the Chimaera states that an RV8 holds 5 litres. The Bible states the same.
The RV8 Resource website suggests having 6 litres available when changing the oil - then you've got enough for a couple of top-ups if required.
