We are all noticing bad driving on a daily basis now. Be it incorrect fog light usage, the lack of light usage in the dark, tailgating, stupid overtaking, bum raping (well, not that one).

The thing that is most obvious though is the complete lack of correct indication. It's as if this courteous and necessary action has become something of an after thought. Especially on roundabouts. It's so bad that I even notice Police cars not bothering to indicate correctly.

I wonder if it's something to do with the way driver aids (not the stuff that results from bum rape) have progressed. So many things in modern vehicles are automated now.

Do you not have the sense or the inclination to use your lights correctly? No worries man, we'll switch them on for you, but only when it's proper dark, dark like the thought of Jimmy Savile pursuing you when you were 8 years old. If it's raining, grey or a bit foggy, we won't bother as everyone can see you in your retail silver st box!

Can you not parallel park, or even park in general? No worries sir, just move your car past the space and we'll sling it in for you. You don't have to do a thing. Hell, you could even tease one off whilst thinking about Cock Womble whilst we perform the manoeuvre. If your good, you could finish and wipe it on the door card just as the car comes to a halt.

Is little Johnny scared at the thought of the rain? Does the little stalk that the window wipers are activated from bring back haunting memories of bad uncle Steve? Well, just click it into auto son and GM will make sure your wipers activate for you. They won't work, however, unless it's pissing it down like crazy. A mere bit of 'spitting' will see you driving along, blinded by that thin film of H2O.

So, what about indication? This is something that cannot be automated. How does the car know which exit you want to take off a roundabout? It doesn't, so the driver who is used to having everything done for him or her fails spectacularly at it.

It's not difficult to move that stick with the up and down arrow on. That stick doesn't mean a dog will appear out of nowhere and begin humping your leg. It doesn't control the seat height. It's for you to be courteous and tell other drivers around you what you are doing.

Actually, maybe you can't think that far ahead. Maybe you have some blue waffle tooth stick stuck to your head? Maybe you are deep in a conversation about which fking loser is going out of the X Factor this weekend? Maybe you are sending a message to Shazne on your whiter than white phone, asking how that burning sensation when she goes for a piss is getting on?

This, my friends, is the problem. The average driver nowadays hasn't the foresight to plan ahead. They look down the end of their bonnet and drive according to what flashes past the resale silver metal. Maybe they don't have the intelligence to think ahead? Maybe they were given 'respec' at school because they had a tendency to answer every question with 'fk you, I know my rights, innit'.

Maybe the lack of correct indication is actually an indication of how st our society has become. How it is being overrun with people who think it is their right to breed little scrotes so that they can get a house for free?

Anyway, I digress. Something that is courteous, written into the highway code and shows good forward thinking is on the decline. It's becoming something of a novelty. Good indication, my friends, is a dying art. And it pisses me off! mad

Instead of the attention whoring nonsense you wrote above you could have condensed it to:

"People who don't indicate correctly are wkers."

1/10 - Must try harder, see me after class.

It's a PH thing. If anyone vents on here people will flock to the thread a score it. Bit like saying 'throw a can of red bull at it'.

He has a point, I followed a woman, well was behind her (been told about following them biggrin) and she went round several roundabouts with no indication, couple of junctions, we get to a busy stretch of A road and she needs to move from the left lane to the right, and lo and behold Audi Q7's do have working indicators !

At that point I had worked out the issue, she didnt indicate as it didnt benefit her, the other people waiting to join the roundabout had to wait that bit longer as they didnt know her intentions as she majestically carved across them, the people around her didnt need to know where she was goign now did they, but the minute she had to jib into a busy lane of traffic on her right she was all about the flashers, on they came and some kind sould let her in, into lane two and she gets to the next roundabout, you guessed it, she went right and didnt indicate.

No pride in driving, just a feral instinct to get to TKMaxx or whatever in the most effort free way possible, only the trick lane change requiring any significant thought.

I like indicating, I cant not do, had it drummed into me, not the worlds best driver but I consider myself to be an above average indicator biggrin

Must say I agree with you sentiments totally, but was too lazy to write it. Hope that doesn't put me in the same category as those too lazy to use their indicators!

Not being pedantic or anything but indicating on a roundabout is pretty useless anyway. If a car coming around a roundabout at you is indicating left would you pull out, I certainly don't unless there are other signs that they are definitely leaving at an exit before my entry, and even then you have to be sure they wont change their mind at the last minute and therefore are fully committed to an exit.

On the other hand if they are indicating right they are not holding you up, you just know for sure you cant go.

A far better rant would be about lane discipline and the idiots that cant even follow the idiot dashes painted on the road to lead them around the intersection such that they actually turn up at the exit they wanted, and in a lane that means everyone else does as well.

As for the rant, 1/10, You lost marks for both subject matter and for being too obsessed with bum rape and sex, I do wonder if the OP is even old enough to drive.

I currently drive a silver stbox and don't indicate, but that's more to do with the fact I have a broken wrist and the indicator stalk is that side. Do agree in general though. Driving standards seem to be on the decline.
