Hey.

So my great timing skills meant i arrived in NYC on sunday morning after a 8 days stint up the east coast of the states.
As you all know, Sandy made land on Monday evening. So essentially, NYC was shut down for 3 days of our 5 day trip.
Would our travel insurance cover any of this, as interruption of trip? Is it best just to phone and ask?

Thanks
Rich

It’s impossible to give you a clear answer as it really depends on the wording of your policy. You'll have to read the small print and speak to them directly if necessary.

Did Sandy cost you any money (cancelled flights, additional hotels, etc) or was it simply that you weren’t able to do things you wanted to (ie. enjoy your holiday)? You’re unlikely to be able to claim for the latter, aside from anything else you can’t put an actual financial value on that.

I'll give them a call later on.
Luckily (or unluckily depends on how you look at it) I originally booked a motel on the Upper West Side, so no extra costs were incurred, except having to spend my time in a small motel room rather than enjoying the city.

In which case I’d be surprised if you can claim for anything. You weren’t left out of pocket, what do you think you could claim for? I doubt your insurance will cover “I had a crap holiday”.
