After many months in build, the Tuscan is finally getting around to the stage where we can think about starting the engine for the first time. One of the question marks we haven't looked at yet though is what we do with the induction on the car. I've got both a set of 4.5 and 4.2 throttles, a set of 4.2 airboxes and a set of Tuscan Challenge airboxes at the moment. As its a 4.7, I don't think the 4.2 inlets will be big enough to flow the amout of air we're looking for (even if they're bored out). So I think its going to have to be 4.5 throttles. I'm not sure what to do with the airboxes though. Has anyone run any tests with AJPs to see what they respond to best? I don't want to cut holes in the new bonnet, so using the TC airboxes isn't going to work. I was thinking of getting some ACT 4.5 carbon airboxes and running them down to a ram air inlet in the front bumper but they are rather large and I don't know if they'll give much additional bhp for the hassle of putting them in.

Has anyone here tried out any different styles of airbox or lengths of inlet runners etc? Looking for as many opinions as possible so we can get it right first time...

Thanks mate, much appreciated I'll give him a call.. If anyone has any stories of things they've tried though I'm still very interested to hear the findings!

I spoke to joolz about this a few months ago, he said he had nt done any back to back testing with the air boxes as yet.

I have both , but I'm currantly running 4.2 set up.

My Cerb engine project is on hold for the moment. But I will be re starting it in the new year and ironing out a few issues. But I think I will be fitting 4.5 induction and air boxes to get the best results.

Sorry this is off topic but is it a tuscan challenge or road going Tuscan like a 2000 model onwards?

Ok it sounds like a set of 4.5 airboxes are the way to go for now... Does anyone have a decent set knocking about?

You could also call Andy at APM Automotive, he's on a level with Joolz for AJP knowledge.

i've modified a set of TC airboxes to fit under a cerb bonnet taking air from the front of the car not sure of the benefits yet but it retains the carbonfibre long induction pipes to retain torque

Sounds interesting Andy, I'll give you a bell tomorrow for a chat about it if you're about. I've seen lots of different ideas over the years and did quite a bit of work into the subject for my final year project at university (though this was with bike engines), but I've not seen much in the way of actual tested figures from ajp engines. That f3000 airbox looks the best idea, don't think I'd be able to see where I was going though!

Just looked at the pics of this - looks pretty smart, what's the torque like?? Anyone thought of opening up the 4.5 throttle bodies a bit?
