Yes I know, another one of those threads.....

Anyway, cut to chase. Other half needs new wheels - V70 is dying. Need space for 2 small kids (in car seats) and dogs plus luggage so it has to be V70 size minimum.

Choices I see are:
Another V70 / xc70 platform car
Audi A6 avant
Mercedes eclass estate

Looked at 5 series touring / Subaru Forster - boot is too small.

Would like to avoid the people carriers.

Thoughts gratefully received.

If you need a truly enormous estate boot then have you considered soft roaders like a Freelander or Santa Fe or Xtrail?

Thanks

Mileage is small 7k per annum so don't really mind what fuel.

Preferably auto. Needs to have a decent turn of speed, ideally no slower than current car - t5 v70.

So, as big as a V70 and as quick as a T5.

Have you considered one of those big, fast Volvos?

Have looked at the freelander and it isn't that big inside but thanks for the thoughts.

If we have to go 4x4 then I will go disco or xc90 (-again) but jeez they are slow.......

I see what you are saying...,,, just seeing if there is anything else out there. Also the new shape ones only have weedy diesel engines (I mean, a 1.6 in a v70???) unless you go for the t6 which are super hard to find.

It should be cheap when you do find one smile Personally (and bearing in mind I own a Disco2) I'd avoid a 4x4 unless you really need 7 seats, and then I'd go for an MPV (SMax ftw) unless 4x4 or image was important

Budget is the key. I was in the same boat, but not bothered by speed or mpg - managed to pick up an 08 E200K Seven seater with 44K miles from Edinburgh for £12K a week ago. Years Merc warranty, four new tyres, years MOT, "A" Service 9K miles away. Poverty spec apart from the seven seats, but drives like a new car. Very pleased so far, apart from feeling very middle aged all of a sudden. biggrin

I looked for more powerful versions, but with the seven seats, they were all 4-5K more expensive.
