I'm not sure if this was on here first time round (search as usual was useless) but this games was available to download for free for PlayStation + members so I thought I'd give it a whirl and all I can say is WOW! This game is awesome and I can't believe I missed this the when it first game out.

I know it got pretty decent reviews but the hype\PR surrounding it was pretty subdued or at least it seemed that way to me as it completely slipped under my radar.

If you like the GTA games you'll love this as it's very much in the same vein with an absolutely HUGE free roam map for you to cause devastation on, hijack vehicles, boats, planes, helicopters and generally have a blast. Seriously I've been playing it on and off for a couple of weeks and I still haven't seen all their is to see. Highly recommended, especially if you are a PS+ member as it's free. Even if you aren't you can pick this up for cheap now.

So anyone else got any love for this underrated game?

I like it, the map is huge but I found driving to location can get tiring as it takes so long. The police are bloody annoying too.

The game is pretty good, very good for destroying things.

Hayama (sp?) 600 FTW!

Wheelies everywhere...

The M something or other you can buy from that weird sloth demon person is pretty good too once upgraded, 125 2t in speed, probably best for random rideouts, and there is a Veyron/SSC mix thing which is stupidly fast, usually findable in the city, and there is a VW bettle shaped thing which is pretty good too. All the roads are pretty decent, but mostly dirt...

I've never got beyond the first mission. smile

Oh, and the scooters can be quite fun in certain situations. And some of the police tourer bikes are quite good.

Also, there are jetfighters and stuff to nick, you can fly a passenger jet as well...

ETA 2

Sorry for spoilers...

Great game. It was the first proper game I played after many years away from gaming and the graphics and scale of it were pretty impressive.

Very addictive because you can jump in for a short blast of chaos or a longer mission. The missions are pretty repetitive though.

This game is amazing, I never enjoyed the missions though.

Best things to do involve connecting things with your grapple rope.

Connect you motorbike to a plane thats about to take off.
Connect two planes together and take off in tandem, if you manage to get nice and high, see if you can get out of the fist plane and fly the second before everything hits the ground.
Connect one of the enemy guards to the back of your car and drive around town.

I used to like rigging my vehicle with a bunch of C4, driving towards an enemy structure really fast then parachute outta the sunroof just before impact.

Oh, and plane surfing. Do a real slow fly-by of an area, jump out onto the wings, murder a few with grenades and assault rifle then jump back into the plane and make your escape.

How about popping off the head of a statue and tethering it to a helicopter, then sweeping it along the ground wiping out all and sundry. That's amusing biggrin

Damn, why didn't I ever think of that, I know what I'll be doing later now.

Any other cool stuff I should be doing in JC2?

Still learning new stuff to do. Loaded up a hijacked helicopter with C4 the other day, flew over an enemy stronghold then parachuted out and dropped it on the head of the base commander. The C4 fireworks going off while I serenely floated back to earth were beautiful biggrin.

There is just so much variety to it. Sometimes I go on and tackle the missions, some of them are repetitive but some are very good, sometimes I just jump in to see what new ways I can discover to cause mayhem and destruction.

It's a pity it doesn't have a competitive multilayer element to it as I could imagine that would have been quite fun\hectic.

Get into a car chase so the big Humvee lookalike vehicles are after you, then hop onto the roof of your car and shoot their front tyres out. It can be quite spectacular.

Also, find a wind turbine then grapple to the outer end of one of the blades. This can make you dizzy though...

One of my favourite games. The best 'sandbox' I've ever seen. I've finished the campaign, and now just gash around randomly with it. Seeing how far inland you can jump one of the offshore powerboats, BASE jumping, and even just riding the 600 bike into oncoming traffic for as long as possible before the inevitable last-second parachute bailout.

Jeez, I'm even amused while sitting off the end of the main airport runway in an attack helicopter, strafing airliners on take-off and watching them explode once they're airborne.

I take it everyone's discovered the island that mounts a 'surprise' whenever you fly an aircraft towards it?

Go play the rest of the missions, the last few are completely insane.

I think I got the surprise when flying to the island but I can't quite remember what it was. I do remember trying to see how close to the water I could fly without crashing.

I tried for ages to do this but kept missing. I concluded it must be impossible. paperbag

I really enjoyed this too. It's such good fun.

I've finished all the missions, but still find it really hard walking around. I can't seem to do anything without loads of troops turning up and battering me! Taking on an enemy base or comms station is always a suicide mission!

Great game. I bought it on release and used to spend hours just messing around!
