BEST PLACE TO SELL

I have been trying to sell my immaculate and well cared for cerby 4.5 (1998) in Top Marques and pistonheads, but I seem to have been plagued by timewasters. Our local dealer won't take it on an SOR basis as he is over stocked.... anyone got any ideas?

As someone looking to buy a Cerbie
, Pistonheads and Top Marques have been my exclusive source of potential purchases. I tried a bunch of other websites and publications, and have yet to find a better source.
You might have to look at why the previous potential purchasers pulled out
. For me, one of the key elements is the price/quality balance, especially if the buyers aren't experienced with the cars. If your buyers have high expectations and these aren't met by the car then there's your problem.
Alternatively, maybe they haven't got enough detailed information about the car and so come to look, but not necessarily to buy?
Personally I would stick with the media that you have, but look at how you are presenting the car, the details, any paperwork/receipts, etc...maybe even the price, in comparison to others advertised. Hang in there, I am sure some genuine person will buy it!

thanks for the comments, but the last timewaster loved the car and the price was ok .... he was due to pick it up yesterday but backed out as he wants to delay buying until the spring!!
I'd push for a sensible deposit (£500) to stop people like that, he may just have been being polite to you however or been after a test drive for the fun of it.
Keeping persisting and you'll get some interest...
Having scoured the adverts to see which is yours, assuming this is it:
www.pistonheads.com/sales/detail.asp?i=19858&s=6
(Gratuitously plugging the link there for you
), it looks a good 'un, and well priced. Is that the MIL or handbrake light on in the interior shot though - I can't remember which way round they go
The current "Cerbera is dead" TVR announcement isn't going to help much, but I'd just hang on in there, and see if you can get it bumped to the top of the PH classifieds again. It's simply a waiting game... as long as you can afford to hold out, do. I'd stick it on EBay, too, with a reserve of, say, £18.5-19k (I assume that's what you'd actually accept for it when all bartering's done). Might get you a few more timewasters, but a non-refundable deposit might help out there.

Yikes!
only 20k!!!! and it still aint selling?
Even with the big 36k service done?????
And normally sports supers tend to sell well mid to end of summer.... I know its september...
but still....
very worrying
And I agree with the overstocked your dealer has mentioned, I have seen a surplus of cerbera's for sale at a few dealers recently, when driving by...
Plus theres also a large number in the classifieds...
I think in general, the first time buyer wont know much about the differences in a 4.2 and 4.5, especially when they've all got spiders and wacky interior trims....
I've been thinking things over, and I've decided the Cerbera is staying for good... she'll be my hobbie from now on.... anything else I purchase in the future will just be a car but not my love.....
I'm keep trev, but I'm making sure that nothing in there stays tvr, big chunk by chunk, everything is getting ripped out and replaced with custom/race spec parts....
This post has given me the confidence and support to keep her....
Goodluck with your sale johnny, I just hope you dont have to drop the price further... that'd be like giving her away!

I think your car is right on the money, you just need to be patient and don't panic. My old Cerbie was immaculate and ended up going to France but did take a few months to go, I got the usual time wasters and tyre kickers but have sold all of my TVR's through Pistonheads.I still miss it and am going to start looking for a LW RR in the new year as I found the Tuscan a little 'brittle' in comparison.
Good luck
Good luck
Greens also seem shift on any TVR I think, my Cooper Green S isn't shifting either where-as the more obvious colours (blue especially) seem to shift easily.
I recall looking for Blue S's and giving up, then went to see mine and realised it was the right colour.
I'd say green TVRstend to go to more cultured owners so you may have to wait a little longer perhaps...
