So, I was watching my Mrs driving a Golf TDi hire car yesterday....she hasn't got the longest legs! She had the moveable steering column pushed all the way in and her seat forward enough for her to reach the pedals. However, she still seemed to be sitting too close to the wheel. After seeing VBH on 5th Gear etc and also wondering why some women sit so close to the wheel I also wondered why more manufacturers dont fit moveable pedal boxes. I realise they are going to be an expensive option but I'm sure many people of restricted height would rather have a moveable pedal box than electric seats or a vanity mirror.

I know TVR, radical and a few other specialist car manufacturers do it but what mainstream cars have them?

Hi there,

Yep, from memory all the Mantarays and Mantis's I drove during my time as a dealer had electrically adjustable ones.

Great feature, don't know why more people don't do it.

Regards

Tim

My 2003 Jag XJ8 has electric pedal adjustment linked to a memory switch, I am sure most top end stuff now has the same

Ford introduced it as an option on the Mk2 Focus. I haven't seen it fitted to any though and doesn't seem to have caught on.

Tvr's though is just threaded rod where the pedal attaches so gives some adjustment in position, bit crude but does some good

Last model Jaguar XJ had this, not the current one though.

A lot of the cars mentioned also have adjustable seats. How much adjust-ability is there in the pedal box travel? The Mantula has 7" to 8" forwards and backwards you move the pedals by turning a knob that look abit like a brake bias adjuster. I think latter model Marcos where all electric.
