X Type Electrical Woes
Discussion
Recently had a new battery fitted on the car as the original Jaguar unit cried enough after just over 11 years.
Thing is this..... Since the new battery was fitted I have had the following problems:
Rear parking sensors don't work.
Sun roof will not open.
Rear windows will, reluctantly, go down after which it can take half an hour of fiddling with the window switch together them to fully close.
Radio works perfectly until the rear screen heater is switched on. As soon as the switch is pressed the radio goes off.
All of the above worked perfectly before the new battery was fitted.
I have had the car looked at by the Indy garage who fitted the battery, & who have looked after all of my cars for over 10 years.
They have checked all the fuses & the wiring etc & cannot find out what the problem is.
The car has also been checked out by my local approved Jaguar franchise who, after relieving me of £87.50 for a diagnostic check, also couldn't find out what the problem was although they did suggest that I could have a new rear parking sensor kit fitted by them at a cost of a mere £190.00 + VAT........
Not sure why I would want a new kit fitted when the originals worked perfectly until a week ago.
The franchise were unable to tell me why the other problems were occurring & suggested that they probably were not working when I bought the car.....
Tossers. I wouldn't have bought the car if they didn't work & I know for a fact that everything worked perfectly.
So does anyone have any ideas as to what might be causing the problems?

I did think about that however the supplier & the Jaguar dealers say it wouldn't be the battery because the car starts every time southey oth reckon that the batter is ok.
The problems are annoying to say the least.
Your Jaguar dealer really should know better. The problems are annoying to say the least.
It is absolutely imperative that the battery in these cars is perfect, not just ok.
I have solved literally dozens of ECU problems over the years just by fitting a new battery. It has to be exactly the right rating or you will still have problems even if the battery is new.
It may be the wrong one fitted now, I woudl check the rating and type against the original spec.
