My first Caterham 1600 K series 12,000 miles - took possession 4 weeks ago - notice when the car gets warmed up, the oil gauge reads on the red. Looking through the service history I have noticed that the previous owners have replaced this part in a very short period. Is there a general problem with this part, which is very vulnerable to all weathers, or should I be concerned that the problem lies deeper? Without going to the expense of replacing an item that might not be the problem. I should appreciate anybodies input.

Have a go posting this in the Caterham section.

I also have k series Caterham and reckon I have a dicky sender as well. The reading as it warms is normal and it holds good pressure at all times. But through corners it wanders and waves around. Not convinced its a true reading as the car is fitted with non sticky tyres, baffle in the sump and Apollo tank. For what it's worth, the previous owner replaced the original part with a mechanical sender.

Will follow your thread as I am also not sure if I need to replace or another issue.

The senders are very unreliable. I'm in the middle of changing to a mechanical gauge set-up. The only problem with this is the gauge won't match the rest of the Caterham ones.
