Small TV+DVD with decent sound quality?

I'm about to return a low-cost 22-inch TV+DVD combi - due to an overly noisy DVD drive. It's probably a typical quality-control issue, as I can't imagine anyone would put up with it.

But the sound quality is also awful, with very little depth and no bass. So I'd like to upgrade rather than replace like with like.

Any recommendations on a similar-sized TV which doesn't need a separate soundbar/2.1 system?. It's for the bedroom, and I just want one widget, and no extra wires.
