M135i Test Drive
Discussion
Hi,
Just incase anyone is interested I thought I'd share my test drive experience from today. I will add I'm no driving god, don't have masses of performance car experience & only got a C in English so it will be brief & probably not the best!
I have a 120d company car & an E36 M3 Evo so the test drive was with a view to replacing the M3.
First impressions were how good the steering felt , not sure if the steering is different to my 120d or whether it was just the Michelin PS tyres but it felt really nicely weighted etc...I should add the roads were wet.
Straight line, it's rapid. Definitely quicker than my M3, not hugely but noticeable especially mid range. Tried one or 2 'launches' & it certainly shifts even in the wet....this is also probably where the biggest difference was to my M3, definitely quicker off the mark. I was also really impressed with the noise, both exhaust (inc pops on over run) & I do have to admit I like my turbo whistles etc.
Didn't push it in the corners because of the wet roads (& my novice abilities) but I'm sure it would be very capable.
Didn't really negotiate with the dealer but the price given was £29,100.
Had a think about it for the last couple of hours &, as it would be a weekend car, it's not looking likely I will buy. If my M3 was an every day car then I think the 135 is definitely what I'd be replacing it with but as it isn't I'm not convinced the 135 is 29k better (more fun etc) than my M3.
As I said this probably isn't the best read ever so apologies for that but if anyone else is thinking about replacing a car similar to an E36 M3 with this one it may help a little.
Cheers, Ben.
