Judge Dredd 101
Discussion
Thanks, the one on ebay was complete but not road worthy, he said it was on a new 101 chassis like I think they all were and couldn't see why it couldn't be registered, it had inner door skins and other bits with it, I think he was in or near Surrey and I know it never sold, somebody must know him? there is a dealer in Holland with one but he is very very unhelpfull.
Dunsfold did all the conversion work in association with Landrover. Once the film was done quite a few were returned to standard military spec and sold off. About 6 or 7 were left as they were with one being road registered. Which was a nightmare in getting it SVA,ed. To be honest they are horrible to drive. The visibility is dreadful.
IIRC - There are a couple of the Judge Dredd 101s up at Gaydon/HoTL.
Quite why you'd want to re-create one for road use is beyond me as they are horrible to drive, little/no visibility, impossible to manoeuvre and hard to get in & out of!! Recreating the look of the wheels & tyres will be near on impossible too.
...but as a toy/prop, they do look impressive though.
