Since owning ive had 4 tanks of fuel
2 BP ultimate - no probs

Last one - Optimax, journey home was fine (its a bit out of the way!) from that point on at around 2,000rpm no pull at all. now i know they arent great at those revs but its dead, floor it and it was like turbo lag, then it went, then it seemed strangled, then it went.... Not happy...trip to Joolz looking imminent!
So steady driving for a few days.

Full tank of BP in yesterday - no probs(so far)

Any reason - ECU mapping cant be that sensitive to 1 octane rating...
OR do i have another problem about to rear its ugly little head!

Mine did the opposite.

Always used Optimax, first sniff of Ultimate, got a nasty stutter.

Won't be using Ultimuck again...

Strange....maybe its just another one of those "all cerbie's are different" things!

I did read about people resetting ECU's etc and thought this might do the trick.
Not sure if its worth it though.

I know when I say anything on here, people normally take my words and feel I am preaching or being vain etc etc....

But its not like that, I just say it like it is...
based on what I have experienced...

and I will definitely say this much...

with BP Ultimate - she FLIES like hell on fire!
with Optimax - she spends half her time exploding!

And dont forget, Autocar use BP Ultimate in all their tests!...

But Optimax is 98RON.... but I gather Ultimate has better conditioners in addition to the gas to help keep the engine wear down....

But, Optimax is like nitrous in the 3000GT, i think aspirated beasts enjoy the extra octane more....

I always seemed to get a few more MPG from Ultimate the few times I used it. Rest of the time I was on Optimax, and no performance difference for me.

I always panic when I can't find a shell garage because she only seems to run well on Optimax. The couple of times I've used normal super unleaded she pinks under 3000rpm under full throttle. Never used BP ultimate although I might try it next time reading the other posts above.
