Defender 90 top ten mods
Discussion
New to owing a newish Defender 90 2.2 puma hard top commercial. It has been suggested that it might advisable to get the heater inlet snow cover from Mud.
So far I have had the 90 fully waxolded and wondered what was people's advise or suggestions for the top 10 mods and accessories......

I take it to do the egr removal and Cat bypass it needs a remap?
What happens at mot time, will it pass without?
Also. Any one had the interior side panels from Mud? It looks so naff as it comes and I was wondering what people who have had them thoughts are about the quality and ease of fitting. I am sure some of the hard core guy will always have the less is best view.

Good purchase - and I'm not at all jealous So far I have had the 90 fully waxolded and wondered what was people's advise or suggestions for the top 10 mods and accessories......

What mods you do depends on how you are going to us it. If it's just getting used on-road then mods will be different to if you wish to off-road it. Either way, I'd use it for a while first then see what you do and don't like about it, and modify accordingly. Many people spent hundreds if not thousands on stuff they don't need. I assume that you will not wish to do extreme off-roading if it's quite a new and tidy vehicle.

On a Puma I'd be slightly cautious about decatting. As you say, it might be an issue come MOT time unless you want to go through the rigmarole of swapping exhausts every year. What happens at mot time, will it pass without?

The Mudstuff panels look ok, very utilitarian. As an alternative, try TGE:
Here
I've seen both, and it's horses for courses really.
Raising the seat slightly can make it hugely more comfortable, as can extra sound proofing.
Before looking at upping the performance and arsing about with diff guards, take a serious look at security.
Forgot all the rubbish about trackers and stuff to prevent it being hotwired. You need to make it physically impossible to move.
Dead locks are worth a look, and there's something you really do need to know about the windows. PM me if you want some more info.
Also consider some secure interior storage. Mobile Storage Solutions do some good drawer systems.

1) cubby box with cup holders
2)MUD interior door handles to save rubbing your knees on the plastic ones
3)heated wing mirror kit
4)Bluetooth kit
5)ARB winch bumper
6) Warn winch
7)Goodyear MTR or BF Goodrich MT tyres
8)HID headlamp upgrade
9)clear indicator lense kit
10)Safari snorkel
I could go on and on and on
What spec hard top is it? Pictures?

And don't bother raising the air intake with a "snorkel" (even though snorkels are something on a submarine)
On its own it won't let you go through water any deeper than you can already, and in terms of keeping dust out (which is what a raised intake is really all about) you'd have to be in the desert for it to be worth it.
Raised intakes and winches are the bookends of the ATGNI library.

On mine I've done:
Psi tuning box
Intercooler
EGR blank (don't remove it, it's now an MOT failiure to have it removed if it had one fitted originally but it can be blanked off)
Centre box removed
Noisekiller engine and bell housing blankets
Full cabin acoustic flooring, I can't remember the name of the guy I got it off now, some chap down in Southampton I think but similar to the noisekiller stuff but slightly better looking.
Mud rails for the seat (assume yours is without bulk head? If not remove that too!)
I've then done various other bits to mine like galvanised chassis and bulkhead.
Tyres would be my only other comment, BFG AT if you are using it on the road and MTs if not.
