I would prosecute the cyclist for being a dick. He could not see ahead of the coach and therefore was not sure if he could complete a safe overtake. He also had no escape route if the coach was to pull right (ie if it needed to overtake a parked bus...duh)

What kind of moron do you have to be to cycle alongside the O/S of a bus and think "This is a good idea!"

i'm glad i don't live in london..

no one stops

the biker guy laughs when the cylist goes for overtake

bus drivers are probably always stressed out.

what a joke it is.

I'd expect the cyclist to be using the cycle lane...

Why didn't the bus driver check his mirrors before pulling out?

Cyclists fault, he went for a stupid overtake when the bus was straddling both lanes anyway. And from what i saw the bus didn't take out the cyclist, the cyclist fell off whilst trying to avoid the coach

I cycle this exact route 6 months a year....totally the fault of the cyclist...

There are always busses stopped where they were, and there was only 3ft of room alongside the coach before the kerb. In that situation I would have been in the exact position of the camera motorbike, what the bike did was near suicidal, if it was something worth doing why were the bikes (inc. narrow 125) hanging back?

More like "a typical road user".

I used to cycle through London on my way to work.

Saw the general standard of cyclists, the majority apparently colour blind and totally ignoring red lights. To balance that, drivers in London were also an absolute shambles, who also often ignored red lights, did U turns with a mobile perched between ear and shoulder.

Mostly cyclist's fault IMHO, but the bus driver didn't indicate and should have been checking mirrors/blind spot. Cyclist should never have put himself in that position - he fell off about 6 feet before a lamppost and 10 feet after a metal fence, if the bus had moved a few inches further to the right and the biker had gone into one or the other he would be a statistic eek

Because he doesnt 'pull out'. He is already fully in that lane and there is no reasonable space for any road user to be there, hence he doesnt look. 99% of people would have done the same. The cyclist was in the wrong place, especially considering there is a cycle lane to the left which is where the bus driver would have expected any cyclist to be.

The coach isn't changing lanes, just moving about in his own lane......

Cyclist is also not using the cycling lane.

There is no 50/50 about this, the cyclist was in the wrong place altogether.

First time I've actually seen a cyclist attempting to overtake even when 2 motorbikes stayed behind...

Wtf did the cyclist do that for? If it was a safe over take the motor cyclists would of done it.
If you ain't got the legs, length or view for an over take don't do it, whatever the vehicle your in charge of.

Probably because the Motorcyclists have both had training before they were allowed on the road...

The cyclist was riding very badly, he undertook the motorbikes, got too close to the back of the coach and then went for an overtake where he didn't know where his overtake was going to end as he couldn't see in front of the coach and he did not have an escape route if it went tits up!

Being that close to the coach meant the cyclist was creating his own blind spot as he couldn't see what was either in front or to the near side of the coach.

Look however at the position of the two motorbikes, both pretty good. The Learner was keeping to the offside rear of the coach, no doubt making sure their headlight could be seen in the coaches mirrors and being able to see a bit of what was in front of the coach.

The camera bike was also holding back to try and reduce the blind spot created by the coach and I would guess he had a better view of the coaches nearside than the camera would suggest.

I went out with the local BiB for their bikesafe event a while back, Bikesafe is a thinly disguised hoon across the county where the BiB follow and afterwards criticise, advise or praise your motorcycling skills or lack of.

The way they overtake is the total opposite of what the cyclist did. They hold back, move into the opposite carriageway to gain the best view possible and then gun it, I mean accelerate HARD!! They do not fk about with overtakes!!

They also beat into you with a baton and some pepper spray wink the fact that you never put yourself alongside a HGV or similar any longer than you have to be, either you're in front or behind NEVER alongside.

As a cyclist, and apart from the nonsense about the use of a cycle lane, I agree with Sump.

Thats fairly standard cycling in London, and then they claim that its someone elses fault when they are sitting on their arse in the road.

What was he planing on doing once he was infront just as the coach started to speed up? Every outcome from the start of that maneuver was a bad one for the sake of 3 seconds gained.
