Image Quality

I have already requested something be done about the poor image quality on the new classified's compared with the old classified's. The reply I received was that it was something that was going to be looked into but in general the moderator didn't personally see too much wrong with the quality.

Please address this issue as a matter of urgency as it is really spoiling things. If in doubt look at the image quality at "car & classic.co.uk" and you will instantly see the difference, much clearer, sharper images.

Please sort this out.

We can all dredge both sites to find images which support our own opinion. I found a TVR for sale which clearly showed up much cleared on Car and Classic site but I struggled to paste them onto this reply so I can't show you here. However I am not the only member who has complained about this since the new format came out. Apparently it is being looked at and hopefully things will improve. The thumbnail images are particularly blurred and my preference would be slightly smaller pictures with a better sharper quality than these bigger fuzzy images.

We are going to look at this issue, although it isn't as big a priority as other issues at present. It wasn't so much that Matt is denying that there's an issue, as suggesting that we struggle to see where the difference is. Any examples you find are worth posting, if only so that we can see where in the image the degradation is taking place.

As for image quality - what are you using to mangle the images?

The main issue is artefacting and a lack of sharpness. To put that in context it is possible to have a larger image with the same file size and get a much better looking result compared to PH

Thanks, good suggestions. I don't know what image processor we're using, although when we last discussed it internally I know that we've changed the one we're using.

cuneus - Those images are a result of a bug that we fixed last month. They'll slowly disappear as new ads come in.
