At Last - Cyclist Gets Speeding Ticket!
Discussion
Just heard that Bournemouth has set a FIRST!
A speed camera has been installed on the prom to cop those nasty 'orrid muesli munching lycra clad little !militants"
Too many cyclists have been "speeding at truly dangerous speeds of above 20mph along the prom - and pedestrians have been KSI'd by them.
The speed limit is 10 mph and already one furious pedaller has been nicked for doing twice the legal limit for the stretch of promway.....
But what is the fine?
Will he be get automatic ban?
What happens if he "fails to identify the cyclist" or refuses to sign the NIP?
Anyone know more about this? Welcome move - especially if means cyclists get a taste of this "highway robbery".....
But how do they enforce this?

You will not that the report states that they will not be prosecuted merely warned of the rrors of their ways. Pedal cyclists cannot be reported for the offence of speeding as it is not a motor vehicle. However evidence of excessive speed may be used to prove dangerous or riding pc without due care.

Well if anyone knows this bit of promenade & read the BBC news site.
Poeple speeding going to work!, early in the morning when no one else it using it you can blast from Poole to almost Christchurch in virtually no time, quite without problem just the occasional dog walker or jogger.
However try it on a bank holiday Monday at 2pm & you'd be running millions over, in fact its very dangerous to do more than about 5mph, but you cant go faster so why worry.
This is the ultimate numptyness gone made, get the newspapers onto this talk about a bunch of plonkers with too much jobsworthness. Ride according to the conditions, its quicker, cheaper & easier than taking the car & a darn sight better for you & your licence.

10 mph?!? That'll put all the cyclists straight back on the road again. Not clear from the article whether it's a cycle path or just a free-for-all on the prom.
Ah... but at 12mph you are four times as likely to kill a pigeon than at 10mph.
Ooh, wait till Pigeon finds this thread... He'll not be happy
