The folks got themselves their second border collie about 3 years ago as a pup. Both parents in their 70s, and were quite fit when they got her. Fast forward to now, and Molly is in kennels due to both parents being admitted to hospital (separately. She's a gorgeous lively dog (very intelligent, being a border collie), but the reality is that she will need to be rehomed, as she is really too much for them both. Mum is pretty much bed-bound, and dad is just not as fit as he was.

None of the siblings can really take her on, so we face the prospect of offering her up for adoption. Still early days, and we'd have to get the but-in of the folks, but what's the best option? Not keen on a rescue centre, but would be willing to be convinced otherwise.

First thing to do is talk to the breeder IMHO.

Thanks - though it appears she was bought from a farmer.

Anyone want to take on a 3-year old Border Collie?

Try finding a border collie specific rescue in your area. Kennel club used to keep a directory of breed specific rescues but you could probably google it these days. They will have more understanding of her needs and I think they can often foster rather than kennel them.

Yep - I think you're right. I've found one in the area, so will give them a try.

Cheers
