Hi All! Yes, it's me again. I have to reveal that I am a Radio Ham! Have been for many/too long to remember years(put that on your hard drive Street) but I'm NOT revealing my callsign.

In the days before CB, Ham Radio operators were driving around transmitting on all bands, NO PROBLEM! Short wave Freq's, VHF and UHF, quite safely. Trans atlantic, Car to car sometimes even! The difference was that they were using simplex mode, and while the driver was speaking, the "fixed or other mobile stn" could not respond and distract you, unlike mobile phones, which are duplex, and the other speaker CAN interupt you and make you loose concentration.

Radio Hams realised your position and would NOT interupt until TOLD to! and YOUR carrier was "dropped". The same incidently was true of CB (being simplex) although I've never used it. But I'm sorry to say that CB started the rot! The Police JUMPED on it and the REST, is history.

Now we have DUPLEX mobile phones. I realise the danger I really do. A SIMPLEX system is the answer, I NEVER had a problem with that! Time for a retro-grade step, do you think?

Nicely put 8Pack - 100% with you on this, it's been my argument for an out right ban of mobile phones in vehicles all along.

The legislation was a joke - I see more people nattering on phones now than ever before. Particularly women in SUVs where it seems to be an obligatory accessory - offence intended

TripleS (without the space) can cope with various things, among them being the notion that Eileen is my wife and she is not to be described as the wife otherwise my earhole would be in jeopardy. Come on gentlemen, proper respect for the ladies please!

I'll put you right about this mobile phone nonsense again in due course.

Best wishes all,
Dave.

Dave - I think you got the wrong end of the stick. Mad Mog was (I believe) referring to his own spouse!

Yes Steve, I know he was, but it's time he learned how to refer to her properly. I guess I'm in that kind of mood this evening.

Best wishes all,
Dave.

Oh that's OK then - well at least until the spending review takes place. In any case with you earning astronomical sums as well it'll be no problem.

Best wishes all,
Dave.

This is true - but i am an old fashioned girl at heart - and it is his job to provide me with nice clothes and a hairdo - He does not agree with me over this - of course But that is possibly his only function in life - to keep me happy

In fact - that is the only reason for having males in the first place - since they are useless at everything else

HELLO, HELLO I`M ON THE M25, IN THE ROADWORKS!

Don't get me on the subject of mobiles! I was following a woman on the M25 this morning and she was swerving from lane to lane, when I drew up behind her I could see she was on her mobile, totally oblivious to the rest of the traffic. I was so shocked I nearly dropped my shaver into my coffee!
