Everytime I fold the roof down for the first time after a few days, I get a lovely stream of water coming out from the seals somewhere - and thus getting soaked!

Where is the water being contained?

Sorry, forgot to mention that - MKII, with the vinyl roof and in-built glass window.

On my MK2, if it has been out in the rain for a few days, i find that when I first apply the brakes, a buildup of water shoots out from the rubber seal by my head! I've learnt to do the seal squeeze now before i set off smile

Aye, that sometimes happens to me too - I'm trying to work out the cause of it!

This used to happen to me all the time in my Mk1. I couldn't figure out how to stop it, but squeezing the seals isn't something I tried...

Thing is, it never used to happen, so obviously something's went awry.

Bloody irksome!

Have you checked to make sure the drain tube that runs from the cup down the door seal is clear?

I know the drain holes begind the seatbelt turrets are clear.

Not sure if I understand exactly where you're talking about here, could you elaborate?

Look at the top corner of the windscreen surround, around where the water comes in. There will be a rubber cup at the top of the door seal. The seal itself is hollow to allow water caught in the cup to run down to the top of the sill.

My seals on my mk1 Had been cut and stuffed with foam by a previous owner (to counteract the sagging of age I pressume?) They weren't sealed afterwards so the, uh, seals would fill up with water and then leak out. I sealed these up with some wetsuit repair glue, but also had to make sure the metal runners on the roof that the seals slide into were sealed also. These metal runners have a foam strip underneath that had perished and let water in on mine. I used gutter sealant to re-attach these and it worked well.

Aha, THAT bit!

Apologies for both the slowness of my uptake and response!

Yeah, they're totally clear - the whole car is immaculate, just this one thing is bugging me.

Do they look clear, or have you tried pouring water down them?
